Kidney Cancer

Been diagnosed today. Still processing. Thank you all for being here.

  • Hello Kamarastar and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I can imagine there is a lot for you to process  after being diagnosed with kidney cancer and I hope that you will find the information we have on our forum on kidney cancer helpful. I just wanted you to know that you are not alone and there are other members on our forum who have been diagnosed with kidney cancer and I hope that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

I thought I would mention for example this recent kidney cancer thread by  which you are welcome to respond to if you wish - this member has been having treatment for kidney cancer so would be a good person for you to connect with.

If you ever feel you want to talk things through with someone, our cancer nurses are available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I will now let other members who have had a kidney cancer diagnosis come and say hello and share their story with you.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Thank you for the warm welcome

  • Hi Eillen, Lucie (moderator) has kindly connected me to you as someone who has had recent treatment for kidney cancer. I have recently had a diagnosis for a cancer lesion on my right kidney.  I am keen to hear about your treatment journey if that is okay? Warm wishes Kamara

  • Hiya nice to meet you, I have been having treatment for just over a year then tumour is not growing but not shrinking it is stable at the moment but terminal in the long running. My treatment has been stopped for 5wks to give my body a chance to rest. I was vomiting and diarrhea for 6mths my consultant said you need have a resti think. How is your journey going? It is hard has I Have a family of 4 Children and 11 grandbabies one is due in may so looking forward to that one another little boy

  • Hi Eillen, thank you for your reply. Congratulations on the addition of another little boy! I have 2.5 lesion that has been diagnosed and is being observed. I don't know much else. I am going to be seeing my GP soon, who has suggested a possible removal of the right kidney to prevent any spread, yet we are also going to ensure it hasn't spread so possibly further scans and investigations. I feel quite tired and I seem to have lost a bit of weight. It is hard and scary. I'm trying to stay optimistic.

  • They have not said anything about removal to me I also have liaison on my leg right one and lung so been having chemo and bone injection. Also where I had them on my leg it weakened femur and it fractured and had to have a pin put in so that is being watched cos they couldn't get all the tumor lesion out. So being monitored. Hope everything goes well for you

  • Thank you for sharing your experience Eillen. I found it useful to keep everything in perspective. Wishing you well.

  • Hi , I have just been told I have a 5cm cancerous tumour on my kidney and I’ve already been booked to have my pre ams to have surgery to remove my kidney but first I’ve got to have another CT scan to determine if it has grown or spread and I told the consultant that Ian going on holiday first  and then they can do whatever they need to do so it will be done by 18/2 as the pre ams is only good for 6 weeks I feel like it’s a bit of a rush job which doesn’t fill me with confidence  but hey I will wait and see

howhave you got on?  As it’s been a while since you posted ?

  • Hi Mummybern, I only posted yesterday. I am going to be investigated to see if it has spread, and then a possible removal of my right kidney. I'd be interested to know how you get on with your removal. I hope you had a good holiday.
