Recently diagnosed with breast cancer

I recently had a call back from my recent mammogram, which unfortunately following biopsy has been diagnosed as breast cancer caused through hormone estrogen!  Now awaiting treatment planning meeting following an MRI scan which I had at the weekend.

is there anyone out there who has also been diagnosed recently, just for a shout out and possibly work together through this x

  • Hi Judyknitabob,

Fortunately, when my bones were tested, I was told that I didn't need to take Fosamax. Why are you reluctant to take it?

    Kind regards,

    Hi BF1,

It sounds as if you are recovering well after your surgery, which is good. I had a double mastectomy 14 years ago and remain flat. I have different prostheses for different activities and they work well.

I am glad to hear that you are coping well with your Sloggis now. When are you hoping to get your post-op results?

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Kaz,

I have heard of people getting MRSA before their op. I hope that the antibiotics work quickly and that you can still have your surgery.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • I’ve just been diagnosed and saud the same Jayne ‘if you have to gett it…’ They are waiting for results of MRI and if more biopsies are needed before starting treatment because it’s slow growing. MRI on Monday. How are you doing?

Results from surgery were good, clear margins and size & grade of tumours hasn’t changed. Micrometastases in lymph nodes but that seems to be considered almost the same as clear lymph nodes. Awaiting oncotype results & discussion with oncologist on next steps.

  • Hi, so sorry to hear you’re going through this. It’s hard but try to stay positive. It sounds like they’re being thorough before deciding on treatment for you so that’s good x

I’m not too bad apart from the side effects of the Tamoxifen. I’m gonna give it to the 3 month mark and ask for it in liquid form if the sickness doesn’t go as the radiographer said it’s the coating on the cheaper brands of tablets that can cause it but I had 3 different brands in 1 box so couldn’t possibly track which ones were worse. I start my radiotherapy on Monday and only have to have 5 sessions so all done for Christmas xx

  • Oh hope you are all good for Christmas!  I have my op on 19th all being well  I tested positive for mrsa due to an outbreak of stress cold sores, so didn’t get my op on 12th.  So onwards and upwards aye x sending best wishes x

  • What a nightmare for you. I get cold sores too but luckily got one after my op. I didn’t even think about mrsa X Good luck for your op xx

    Hi BF1,

I am delighted to hear that your margins were clear and that there were no other changes. Oncotype results always take a little longer to come back - let's hope that these are good too! It gets easier once you know what treatment lies ahead, so I hope that your chat with the Oncologist goes well.

    Please keep us updated.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jayne,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the Tamoxifen and I hope that you can soon get this sorted. It's great to hear that your radiotherapy will all be over for Christmas. I hope that it goes well for you,

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
