Breast Cancer results tomorrow.Help!

I have my results appt tomorrow and am terrified.

My husband will travel to hospital with me but I think I'd cope better in the actual appt alone.

Can anyone advise ?

  • Hello again,

I have been diagnosed with invasive left breast cancer, oestrogen negative , Her2 positive..

I will get chemo before surgery.

Today I'm just numb and have to start telling my adult children as no one apart from my husband even knows I had tests.

I'm very tearful followed by optimistic

They said stage 3 with lymph nodes positive as far as I recall.

Thank you for reaching out to me.

  • Hello Suzette

I'm sorry to hear that you were told you have breast cancer. Understandably, things are feeling like an emotional rollercoaster at the moment.

It's good to hear that your treatment plan has already been discussed and that you're now reaching out to family and friends to gather them around you, and your husband, for support.

You're allowed to be tearful Suzette so don't worry about that. I know that many people here will also agree that trying to keep a positive approach will also be very helpful.

If you want to talk with one of our nurses at any point you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can.

Keep in touch if it helps to have a safe space to put down in writing how you're feeling or to ask questions. We're here for you Suzette.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Suzette.

So sorry to hear of your diagnosis.  It's been a year since my diagnosis (triple negative) but my treatment plan was similar to yours.  I'm now coming out the other side so just wanted to give you some words of wisdom that were given to me and definitely helped me through. Remember that this is temporary.  This is not the rest of your life.  It's a temporary state and it will pass and you will come out the other side stronger and more determined than ever.  You will also meet some lovely people along the way and make new friends too where you least expect it.

Good luck with letting your children know.  I hope it goes as well as it can.  Also good luck with treatment once it starts.  You will smash this!

  • Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I really appreciate knowing others have tread the same path and have had positive outcomes.

Today I think I'm in denial, al the adrenalin from yesterday's diagnosis has turned to disbelief.( Even though the 5cm mass in my breast is undeniable)

  • Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate it.
