Ovarian cancer

I has scan today with diagnosis of cancer and fluid in the pelvic region and peritoneum she’s thinks it’s coming from the left ovary but it’s obscured I’m absolutely terrified awaiting CT Does anyone recommend private or nhs

  • I'm so sorry, I wish cancer didn't exist. I think the NHS holds its own after diagnosis generally but if there's any waiting on tests etc private can help. If you don't already have policies in place I don't think throwing money at private surgery really improves much as it's often the same surgeons working at private hospitals. When they thought I had ovarian cancer my surgery was scheduled very quickly through the NHS and went very smoothly. All my tests were quick too. My cancer markers were nothing like yours. My CA125 was under 100 at that point. I was very fortunate. I wish I could give you some of that luck.

I haven't experienced private healthcare. I just researched a bit for my partner as some of his tests and surgeries took way longer than they should have but by the point I did there was no speeding things up. It's worth doing your own research though once you have discussed a timetable with the NHS to see what you can do if you have the money available. Might be worth talking to the consultant's secretary just to get an idea of time frames so you can make a comparison.

Wishing you every luck. Keep us posted.

Thank you x I’m awaiting CT but I’m not hopeful of a good outcome I just want to know if it’s treatable and how long I’ve got x

I had my CT which states it in in the pelvis area possibly primary in peritonitium but now awaiting biopsy x the consultant recommended me to stay with nhs as I would need 2 disciplines as it looks like colon as well x
