Realism of finding out I have cancer

Hi - just come to the realisation that I have cancer, not sure what, trying to navigate my way through some names and analogies, I guess the very start and coming to terms with it - not sure of anything right now.

  • Hey, this is my 2nd time around. Happy to offer any advice

  • I was diagnosed in October last year and had surgery the following month. It was several months after that that I actually started to realise, accept and come to terms with the fact that I had had cancer! Scary word that! I know the words aren't easy but talk again here if you can and we shall listen.

Hi - I’ve been going through test after test at the moment , scans, biopsy and prodded about. What I’ve read are medical terms and possibilities that are putting the fear of god in me. Interesting that it took what it did to register with you - I guess I’m struggling with it IS actually a reality for me.

Hi, thanks for your note, I guess I’m in the coming to terms phase, still going through tests and diagnosis, my mind is all over the place , thinking the worse!

I had biopsies, scans and a cololonscopy. All because what seemed to me a slight swelling. I felt well otherwise. Then about seven months later I was with my husband at a top cancer hospital in London being given a diagnosis and being told what would have to be removed and that the theatre had been booked for a month later. I am so lucky that the top surgeons were able to do what they did. Sometimes it feels like a dream.

    Keep talking to us.
