Scared - bowel cancer last year and now another tumour has been found on my liver

I had a bowel cancer op last year.

On a visit they found another tumour on my liver and I'm now scared because I've got to go to a hospital I don't know

  • Hello Stresses

I'm sorry to hear that a recent check-up has shown a tumour on your liver following bowel cancer surgery last year. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious particularly as you've been asked to attend a new hospital site.

Is there someone that can go with you to the next appointment for support? Hopefully, you have family or friends around you that will be able to help during this anxious time.

Presumably, the appointment is with a different specialist. Hopefully, they will be able to offer you some reassurance when you see them.

In the meantime, if you'd like to talk with one of our nurses for some advice and support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.

Do let us know how you get on Stresses.

    Best wishes,

  • My phobia of hospitals is just a big thing and I nearly didn't have surgery because of this last year.

Going to a Liver specialist hospital where I don't know anyone is so hard.

Im just so tempted to leave it this time.

  • Hello Stresses

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling so anxious about attending a new hospital.

Do you have someone who can go with you to offer support and reassurance?

If it would be helpful to talk with one of our nurses for some advice and support you can call them on the number in my previous reply to you.

I do hope that you can find the support you need to attend the appointment.

    Best wishes,
