I was told at my appointment with the oncologist that I have DPD deficiency. This will affect how much chemo I can have. Does anyone else have experience of this problem?

I'm sorry to hear you've been told you have a DPD deficiency Happyflower.
Hopefully some of our members will be along soon to share their experiences and advice but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to address your concerns and put your mind at ease about how this will affect your treatment.
I'm not sure from your post when you are starting your chemo, but I want to wish you the best of luck and let you know we'll be thinking of you.
Kind regards,

Hi Happyflower I have the same thing, as I understand it its an enzyme your liver produces that deals with the chemo. Some people don't produce any and some not enough from my own research its genetic issue. My oncologist has done his math and I'm allowed 50% chemo, he didn't seem worried so I have to go with that. Start my treatment later today so with that and having nothing to compare it to can't really say how the experience or results could differ. X
Hi again just to add my cancer is anal cancer and as I understand it the chemo is more of a mop up and the radiotherapy is the more important part of my treatment. X
