BCC

Hi, I have a lesion on the bridge of my nose that bleeds, scabs, bleeds , scabs etc since March. I went to the doctors a couple of days ago over an ear infection and they asked about this on the side of my nose. I told them and the doctor said she needed to leave the room a minute and came back with another doctor. She said she wanted a second opinion on this sore. He looked and said he agreed he thinks it is highly likely to be skin cancer. I was gobsmacked. They referred me to be seen in 2 weeks but after I left a copy of the referral was sent to me saying I must be contacted in 2 days. I have an appointment on Tuesday for imaging pictures. I don't want to take up an appointment that someone else needs more than me. It's literally just like an open sore about 2-3mm wide. Has anyone had these tests and it's been nothing?

  • Hi Fletcher

It likely is a skin cancer. The nose is a very common place for it. A cycle of scabbing healing scabbing again and now bleeding are classic symptoms.

Doctors see these lesions every day and very good at identifying them visually.

Good news if it is BCC it is entirely curable. And being still a small lesion will leave an almost unnoticeable scar if surgery is recommended.

Go to your appointment and start the process of diagnosis and getting treatment. Which can take months.

The quicker you get started the better the outcome, it will not resolve on its own.

    Best wishes
