Hi has is melanoma stage PT1B confined to only the epidermis?
Thanks
I have a insurance policy’s that says not covered if the cancer is confined to the epidermis (outer layer of skin) the Clark level is 3
Also if anyone has anything that would be good to know it would be appreciated, having the groin lymph node removed soon
Hi Greg,
Clark level 3 means the melanoma has grown below the epidermis into the papillary dermis and is touching the reticular dermis. Only a Stage 0 melanoma (melanoma in situ) is confined to the dermis so your insurance should pay out for a Stage 1b diagnosis and I know several Stage 1 patients who have been paid out. This should help www.cancerresearchuk.org/.../clark-breslow-staging
I'm assuming you are speaking of a Sentinel Node Biopsy? I will send you a friend request - if you accept it I can answer your questions by private message.
Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)
