My first chemo was hell!!

Someone please help me get my head around surviving the horrendous pain of chemo! What can I do to reduce the pain? A week later and I am only just coming out the other side with 2 weeks to go before the next cycle! Spent 4 days in hospital with pain from the top of my head to the soles of my feet which morphine could not help in the slightest! I have a high pain threshold so this has knocked me for six. I don’t know that I can continue like this. My skin is now itching and lots of rashes which I am using piritan and eurax cream but it feels like it’s on fire! I feel weak, drained, tired and discouraged.  Please help!

  • Hi Venetta,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm so sorry to hear you have been struggling. It would be worth discussing this with your doctor to get their thoughts and to hopefully get some reassurances that it will get more manageable.

I know there will be others here who can relate and who may have experienced or are experiencing something similar, so hopefully you'll get some more replies soon.

If ever you want to talk things through with someone, you are always welcome to call our nurses. You can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

We are always here if you need it, and I hope the forum can be helpful for you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
