Lung Cancer in Elderley patients

Hi we have recieved devastating news yesterday that my nan age 73 has secondary lung cancer which has now gone to her spine,

they haven’t yet staged the stage of the cancer but my Nan lost a huge amount of weight within the last 6 months and we are concerned things aren’t going to go great over the next few weeks, just wondering if there is anyone out their who can share any info in how to cope :(

  • Hello S-w2109

I'm sorry to hear that your Nan has been diagnosed with secondary lung cancer. It's obviously a worrying time for you all and natural that you will have questions and concerns about the next steps in her care.

We have some information on our website about metastatic lung cancer which may be of help to you. You're also most welcome to give our team of nurses a call to talk things through with them. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

There is also some information available for family, friends and caregivers of those with cancer that you might want to read through.

Hopefully, at your Nan's next appointment, the specialists will be able to answer all your questions and give you some reassurance about your Nan's care.

    Best wishes,
