Just diagnosed

Hi I have just been diagnosed with liver cancer. They have told me they think it is secondary cancer. I have had all the tests they have asked me to have and I am waiting for them to review the results then for a appointment to come through. How do you cope with the waiting. I'm so scared of what they are going to say

  • Hello Suevan

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with liver cancer and that the team thinks this is a secondary cancer. It's understandable difficult news to take in and natural that you will have questions and concerns about what this may mean for you.

We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be very difficult. The unknown can be a scary prospect to face and often our minds will wander to worst-case scenarios. We do have some advice and tips that may be of help while you're waiting on this thread but I'd also suggest giving our team of nurses a call. It can help to talk with someone about how you're feeling and I know many other community members have found it useful to chat with them. If you'd like to give them a call they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can as well as help you think about any questions you might want to ask the team.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer for your appointment and the team will be able to give you some answers. In the meantime, we're here to listen if it helps to chat with people who understand Suevan. We'll do all we can to support you.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
