Just wondering of anyone else hasn't had any scans with their diagnosis?
Got surgery next week and had have US and mammograms but no scans. Is this normal?
Thanks

Yeah me, and I was wondering the same thing myself. Everyone seems to be offered mri's but I've had nothing. My care has been exemplary, I certainly can't complain, but I do wonder why some get the mri and some don't.
My nurse just said it's not routine for them at that hospital. So i suppose it must be case and hospital specific.
Have you asked them?
I didn't really know people had them until I read about everyone's experiences in the Facebook group I joined * UK breast cancer support group - for sufferers and survivors* fantastic group if you're interested and very helpful. I never asked, just assumed it was because I was very early stage and deemed unnecessary.
That's interesting. I'm learning to ask even though I've assumed.
Thanks for the tip. I'll check that out.
Hi Bookorm,
A very warm welcome to our forum.
Your investigations sound perfectly normal.
Your ultrasound was a scan. MRI is not a routine scan, but an additional one. It is only where other images are unclear, or, in certain types of cancer, that an MRI is required.
Hope this clarifies things for you and the best of luck for your surgery next week. Please keep in touch and let us know how your surgery goes. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Thank you for your lovely clear explanation. The images seem clear but I was unsure because of the cancer type. But I guess at some point you just have to trust. x
