Endoscopy after pancreatic cancer diagnosis

Hi everyone,

my mother in law has been informed that an endoscopy is required following her pancreatic cancer diagnosis. The consultant has said that nothing can be done until she gets it and it could be sometime. Meanwhile they’ve also confirmed spots on liver. No information on stage, possible treatment or prognosis.

Were confused and frustrated at the lack of progress. Any advice?

Thanks

  • Hello Mazza10

I'm sorry to hear about your Mother-in-law's diagnosis. It's understandably a worrying time for you all and natural that you are concerned by the lack of progress.

It's not uncommon for people to need further tests after an initial cancer diagnosis. We know that for many people this period of waiting can be difficult.

Has the hospital given you an indication of how long your mother-in-law may need to wait for the endoscopy? If you're concerned with the length of time she may have to wait you can always contact the hospital PALS team. It's part of their role to help resolve concerns when using the NHS.

It might be a good idea to give our team of nurses a call to talk things through with them as well. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can whilst you're in this period of uncertainty. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that your mother-in-law has some answers soon.

    Best wishes,
