Diagnosed with tonsil cancer and neck node cancer

I have had my tonsils removed and more biopsy s done I find the hardest part of having cancer is telling other people the closer they are the hardest it is and waiting for the next results to come in I’m a realist so bad news I can accept it’s just the not knowing I  am doing most of this on my own I’m 61 married 33 years but found out my husband has been seeing transgender people and men and ladies of the night couldn’t deal with this and the cancer so he had to go and I’m hoping my cancer is treated as I want to enjoy my freedom for a few years so anyone going through cancer and a break up you can do it if I can and also given up smoking after 45 years and have now gone cold turkey on that one good luck to all going through this terrible time look forward to hearing your stories and how we can all get through this

  • Hi Carolgeorge and welcome to the forum.

I'm very sorry to hear about your diagnosis as well as what has happened with your husband. I can't begin to imagine what you must be going through, but it's clear to see that you are a very strong and resilient woman, which I know will put you in good stead for whatever may lie ahead.

I do hope this information I've found about talking about your diagnosis and how to tell people you have cancer will make those discussions with the people you're closest to slightly easier to have, but if you would like to talk about anything you've mentioned in your post with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and will do all they can to help.

We're thinking of you Carolgeorge and wishing you all the best with your biopsy results and giving up smoking.

    Kind regards,
