Newly diagnosed first timer.

Hi just been diagnosed with breast cancer.

I've to get lumpectomy and some nodes removed then radiotherapy and maybe chemo.

Had CT scan they found a "spot" on my liver so I need an MRI before I can get surgery.

Surgery is penciled in for end of next month.

I have 2 older boys(moved out)and a 9yr old girl,single mum.

Don't know why I'm putting myself out here but I guess it just makes it seem more real typing this and seeing it in black and white.

I don't know stage or type they said they won't know till lump is out and tested but I see most folk seem to know theirs. The folk that know, did you know before surgery or they tell you after?

Thanks for reading if you get to the end.

Sending Healing vibes to everyone needing it xxxx

  • I have had a lumpectomy and axillary lymph node clearance. I was given the grade, type of carcinoma and information that I was oestrogen and progesterone positive  and Her2 negative only after biopsies were taken during my ultrasound scan. This was before surgery. Afterwards details can change when lump and lymph nodes.are examined. My cancerous lump was bigger than initially predicted and the number of affected lymph nodes rose from three to four. The other details remained the same.

I am sorry to hear about your situation. I am about to start radiotherapy and am being treated with the oestrogen blocker Letrozole plus calcium tablets to protect my bones The recommended treatment plan depends on individual factors including age, personal preference and whether you are pre or post menopause.I do not have to have chemotherapy because I am 81 and 20 sessions of radiotherapy were judged sufficient in my case.

I hope this answers your question.

Best wishes Please don't worry because your medical team will give you the best possible treatment. .
