Stomach Cancer

My husband has been diagnosed with stomach cancer which has spread to his liver. We have a date to start chemo but we are obviously anxious about the 'what ifs'! We have been told that he cannot have surgery to remove tumour in stomach. We have been informed that the chemo treatment is not curative but to keep the cancer at bay and quiet. Does this mean the chemotherapy is known as palliative chemo?

Is there anyone else who has had a similar diagnosist to my husband and can share their experience?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat NataliePH although I'm sorry to hear your husband has been diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer. This must be a very difficult time for you both.

I hope this information we have about chemotherapy for stomach cancer will help, but if either of you would like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your minds at ease about what's to come.

Many of our members who have been in this position will definitely understand what you're going through at the moment, so you are not alone, and hopefully some of them will be along soon to share their experiences and advice.

We're thinking of you NataliePH, and sending all our strength and support your way.

    Kind regards,
