Newbie - newly diagnsoed with colon cancer

I have just been diagnosed with what looks like sigmoid colon cancer. This was discovered during a routine screening letter

They have just lowered the age to 54 and I turned that in April.

It does seem to be treatable and curable and lots of tests coming up with likely surgery in  month or so.

Just wanted to say hi.

  • Hello Soumont

I'm sorry to hear that a recent routine screening test has resulted in your being diagnosed with probably colon cancer. I'm guessing that this came as a shock to hear this news but it sounds as if the team is very positive that this can be treated.

Hopefully, the tests that you have upcoming over the next few weeks will bring more positive news and reassurance and the team will be able to plan you in for surgery before too long.

We know that for many people this period of waiting for further tests and information can be an anxious time. Please try to avoid searching the internet for answers as at the moment this will most likely leave you with more questions and uncertainty.

If you think it may be helpful to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information, and support they can along with helping you think about any questions that you might want to ask.

Keep in touch Soumont and let us know how you get on over the next few weeks.

    Best wishes,
