Mouth cancer

The oral surgeon told me I had mouth cancer which is on my gum on May 24th. Since then I have had two biopsy appointments cancelled just hours before the appointment time.  I was staying very positive but this last cancellation, which happened today via an unsympathetic and in my opinion poorly trained appointment clerk has really knocked me for six. My next appointment is scheduled for June 27th which will mean I have waited five weeks for a biopsy's on an aggressive cancer. What if this appointment is also cancelled? I feel worried, frustrated, upset, powerless to do anything and badly let down. This is plain cruel.
Rant over.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Only-human although I'm so sorry to hear what has happened since you found out you have mouth cancer

You have every right to be angry and upset about this, but hopefully your appointment on the 27th June will not be cancelled and your biopsies will finally be carried out.

However, if problems persist and you would like to make a complaint, then don't hesitate to get in touch with PALS. They are a patient advice and liaison service that offer confidential information, support and advice and help resolve any issues you are having.

We have further information on how to make a complaint on our website.

I'm thinking of you Only-human, and really do hope things start to run more smoothly for you from here on out.

    Kind regards,
