Dad told he has bladder cancer

Can anyone help or advise?  My father attended E&D back in December 2023 for pain in his bladder area, he was given an X-ray and told he had a UTI and sent home with antibiotics.  In January we received phone call calling my dad back in for a CT scan of lower abdomen as the radiologist thought something didn’t look right. We were called back on the 8th February telling us he had wall thickening and swollen lymph nodes and was red flagging him to urology, roll on till April after chasing appointments , chasing doctors, my father eventually got biopsy and the doctor was able to tell us he knew by looking at it was cancer.  We are waiting till the end of may to find the full picture of what stage my fathers cancer is and he is losing so much weight every day. By the time treatment if it’s offered he might not be here.  He’s the full time carer for my mum and is a total disgrace the way he’s been treated.

  • Hi marble1978,

I'm sorry to hear you've been through such a tough time trying to get answers. You mention finding out more at the end of May, so I hope it's not long to wait now to get the information you need.

If you have concerns about your father's condition or symptoms prior to your next appointment, do of course call the relevant doctor/specialist, either to try to hurry things along or to get any support or advice you may need in the meantime.

As I say, I hope you hear more soon.

We are always here for support if you need it - wishing you all the best,

    Ben
