Feeling overwhelmed - husband has received a letter saying he has right renal carcinoma

Hi everyone, my husband has just received a letter from his doctor and he has been very poorly. He’s home now on 24 hr oxygen. In the letter it states ‘ high density right renal carenoma . His kidney doctor has seen him he’s had a scan and this is what doctor has said, they will keep an eye on it. Surely husband needs a biopsy or something. I’m terrified he has cancer it’s just another smack in the guts with everything else going on. Any advise would be most welcome.

  • Hello Karenwhitewitch

I'm sorry to hear that your husband has been unwell recently and that he's received a letter informing him he has renal cell carcinoma. It's understandably a worrying time for you and natural that you have lots of questions.

I'd certainly get in touch with your husband's GP next week and ask for some clarification about this letter. Hopefully, they will be able to give you some answers and explain what the next steps will be regarding his care.

If you think it may help to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I do hope you have some more positive news soon.

    Best wishes,
