Cervical cancer

I have been diagnosed with grade 1b stage 2 cervical cancer just over 3 weeks ago. I an just waiting to see if i can have a radical hysterectomy or if not radiotherapy and chemo. I have had the best care with the 2 week rule followed. I had an ultrasound exam, a hystoscopy followed by a Lettz procedure.  I have just had a pet scan and mri scan also. I found it quite overwhelming,  but i am staying positive as they are saying treatable.  Should find out over the next couple of weeks which treatment i will have. Find the waiting hard but i have good support from my family and friends.  Does anyone have experience  with the hysterectomy procedure as nervous if this is the option they choose, they have said a radical hysterectomy.  Thanks

  • Thats great news and quite quick aswell, although it feels like an eternity waiting, I know.

I was told I had cervical cancer on the 8th April, ive had biopsies and MRIs done. Then last Monday I was put to sleep to have a large loop done but they didn't do it as the cancer is apparently 3.5cm rather than the 5-6mm they first thought. Im wondering how the MRI didn't see? I should be in next weeks MDT meeting again and a decision will be made as to whether I'll have a radical hysterectomy or chemoradiation.

I'm very nervous but think i would rather the surgery instead of treatment,  im 42 and have been sterilised for over 10 years anyway and I already have to pluck my chin so.... all jokes aside I hope everything goes OK. Please keep us updated

  • Oh bless the waiting is the worse. Yes you would have thought the MRI scan would have picked that up xx i am glad its surgery tòo, i dont need anything now im getting old lol x keep me updated on how you get on and what they decide, always here if u want to talk or rant or cry x its overwhelming sometimes xx

  • Thankyou! Same to you aswell xxx

  • Hi sorry have been quiet for a while getting over my surgery. All went well with the operation, but got a kidney infection so had to stay in hospital for 9 days. This set me back about a week but I'm getting there now. Got a call last week to say they got all the cancer and no further treatment necessary, I am so lucky.  How is everyone else doing. Xxxx

  • Good to hear you’re okay. I’ve gone on to have light chemo and radiation for 5 weeks which I’m already finding hard as have been feeling very sick. Hope your healing goes well. Xx
