Bladder cancer - confused about options

Hi my mum has been recently diagnosed with T3 bladder cancer, luckily it hasn’t spread to anywhere else but they have advised it is aggressive. It is squamous cell and they have advised it is rare.

I have been looking online for outcomes of treatment, after an initial discussion with the oncologist and surgeon yesterday we are very confused and unclear on what our options are. We have emailed to ask further questions.

does anyone have any experience of undergoing the chemo radiotherapy option initially? Other posts online are only detailing people’s experiences with the radical cystectomy

thank you

  • Hello EH1

I'm sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. It's naturally a worrying time for you both and understandable that you both want to make sure she makes the right choice for her regarding her treatment options. Hopefully, someone who has been through this treatment option for bladder cancer will reply to your post soon.

It's good to hear that you've already been in touch with the team responsible for her care to follow up with the questions you have. Hopefully they will be come back to you before too long with some clarification and answers.

In the meantime, if you'd like to talk things through with one of our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Do keep in touch and let us know how you both get on.

Sending your Mum my best wishes with her treatment.
