Just advice/knowledge

Hi, my mum has a very large mole it changed colour and shape and is raised. We had a dermoscopy done, they told us 10 days for te results however called just three hours later with a face to fave. During the appointment she told us that it was cancer she would need potentially two operations but needed a biospsy. We had it removed today to be sent off, but she wasnt offered her lymphs to be tested.

it was about the size of plum and black. I just wondered if anyone could shed some light on the process.

i lost my dad two years ago to bowel cancer and this group was just brilliant.

i am so sorry ur all going through this xxxx

  • Hello Kirsta1986

I'm sorry to hear that your Mum is facing a possible skin cancer diagnosis. It's naturally a worrying time for you both and understandable that you have some questions.

Hopefully, she won't have to wait too long for the biopsy results, and once the team has that information they will be in a better position to advise your Mum about possible further surgeries and/or lymph node biopsies.

In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it helpful to have a chat with one of our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information, and support they can along with helping you think about some of the questions that you or your Mum may want to ask at her next appointment. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Kirsta and let us know how your Mum gets on.

Sending you both my best wishes,
    Jenn
