so scary , I’m having a hemi collectors hopefully soon ,

I’m not sleeping that well at the moment night time is worse as your mind goes mad

reading other s comments I don’t feel so much on my own

any advice on how to cope

  • I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis and it was just like my wife and myself that she has receoved confirmation that she had got ovarian cancer at stage 3.

The one thing that I have found out over the last couple of months having the uncertainty about what she had got and only for the worst fears to be confirmed but the important thing to take away from this is that it can be treated and put into remission or even cured. My wife starts her chemo next week and has a 6 month programme of treatment which includes surgery mid-way through.

The best thing that you can do is try and keep your mind occupied and do something that you enjoy or go out for a change of scene. I have looked at it this way where I have told my wife that everyday that goes by is one less day to go before the remission process can start which is being treated. I am sure that like our own situation that your doctors are already preparing a treatment plan which they will agree with a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and they will let you know very soon on your personal plan. The good thing about chemotherapy is that it goes into the blood stream and the blood feeds every organ in your body so wherever there is cancer cells then the chemotherapy will kill them and like my wife's situation is having three different drugs. These aim to stop the cells dividing, attacking and destroying the DNA that creates the cancer cells and restricting blood flow to the cancer to stop more forming. Also in the meantime, eat more fruits and vegetables that have high levels of antioxidants (or phytochemicals) in them as these are also anti-cancer agents.

One thing you must not do is look at the Internet and especially statistics as this can really blow your mind and massively increase anxiety as this is all historical information and treatment for cancer has come on a long way over the past few years and decades. Just let the doctors when your treatment starts do their work with their knowledge and experience to get yourself back on the mend again.

  • Thank you for your reply helps talking to people who understand.there has been an MDT outcome to have another CT abdo then remove the tumour send for histology to see if I need chemo they are removing my lymph nodes as well , I’m worried if they find anything else from the scan tomorrow, I feel if it’s not one thing that I’m worrying about it’s something else ,

I am positive if I think rationally, I avoid google night times are the worse ,

thank you again for your advice
