Nodular infiltrating Basal Cell Carcinoma

Hi I was given confirmation last week I have Nodular infiltrating Basal Cell carcinoma, I have had a pink mark on my forehead since 2020 I’ve been to the drs several times was told keratosis I was given cream twice which did make it sore and crust then paled but never disappeared, it then came up in September 23 and it bled scabbed but never went so the dr did eventually refer me! I’ve had a biopsy and so it was confirmed

I was told low grade and it won’t cause any health issues I’ve opted for MOHS surgery, the waiting list at the moment I’ve been told between 4 mths to a year

i am concerned because when I google ( I know I shouldn’t) infiltrating it says that is more aggressive and requires treating early

has anybody got experience of Nodular infiltrating? I’ve booked a private consultation for Thursday with a view to having MOHS privately if it the case

I’m sorry for the long post but im so anxious

  • Hello Hjc123,

There is some information on our website on basal cell carcinoma which mentions that there are different types of BCC including "morphoeic basal cell skin cancer - also known as sclerosing or infiltrating basal cell skin cancer" and if you would like to talk to one of our nurses about treatment that is offered for this type of BCC, feel free to give them a call on 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they should be able to tell you more or answer questions you might have on what 'nodular infiltrating' might mean.

Best of luck for your private consultation tomorrow - I hope that you will get a bit more clarity tomorrow during your consultation and that they will be able to advise you on what the best course of action should be for this type of BCC. If you type the keywords 'basal cell carcinoma' in our forum search which is located on the search bar at the top, you will be able to see other relevant recent threads on the subject and feel free to respond to anyone you feel you would like to share experiences with.

Best wishes and do come back if you have a minute after your appointment to let us know how you got on,

  • Thank you Lucie, the consultant did reassure me that it wasn’t life threatening to wait but can remove it for me in 3 weeks privately or around 6 months NHS for my mental health I have opted to go privately.  Thank you for your support
