Lung nodules

Hello

I’m new here

I have been told I have nodules on my lower lobe

I have had mri and pec scan it’s been going on since last year and found by accident

this week I went in for a biopsy to cut a long story short they couldn’t find a safe way to get a biopsy as it was behind a rib and impossible to reach they tried but deemed unsafe

I have follow up this week which they have suggested in the letter wedge resection I’m so worried on what will happen

has anyone had this or heard or this

Any help appreciated

or if anyone knows of any alternative things I can ask while in my meeting

im so worried I will lose my job as I don’t get sick pay how can I survive on ssp

thanks in advance

  • Hello Nannydd

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently going through investigations for lung nodules. It's understandable that you're feeling worried.

A wedge resection removes an area of the lung that includes part of one or more lobes. I know that we've had members post on the forum previously who have had this surgery. You can find some of their posts by using the search function at the top of the page to look for the phrase "wedge resection".

In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk with one of our team of nurses. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can along with helping you think about some of the questions you might want to ask. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I'd recommend having a look at the information available on the Macmillan website about benefits and financial support. They also have a team that you can call to speak to.

I hope that your appointment this week brings you some reassurance. Let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
