Melanoma stage 3

hello - just been diagnosed with stage 3 A melanoma. Found in sentinel lymph node. Melanoma removed.  Because i’m being treated for breast cancer I’m already having immunotherapy with three months left.  The oncologist said that was good for the Melanoma.  Been for MRI of brain and CT of lungs and liver.  Now waiting for results.  Last PET scan in September for the breast cancer was clear.

all feels so overwhelming

I hope you are getting on OK - this sounds like a lot to deal with. I hope that it's not long to wait for your results.

I wanted to send a reply to your post to give it a little boost, so more people should see it and hopefully you'll get some more replies.

  • Hi Sally,

I’ve had 9 lymph nodes removed along with the cancerous lymph node and surrounding tissue. All was clear thankfully. I’ve almost completed my immunotherapy treatment, only one more next week . I was very anxious before going for my first infusion. Blood pressure raised but it was all over in no time. No fatigue, I was fine. Not long after, I began to get “spots “ on my upper body, chest, back, upper shoulders. No big deal. Given a cortisone cream but they soon became itchy so was given anti histamine tablets to take. Move on 9 months and the spots changed into white blotches like vitiligo.  All sounds awful but believe me, it’s superficial, superficial, cosmetic, nothing else. I’m as strong as a horse!!  Perfectly healthy and well.  Don’t be scared. Try to remain positive. I’ve had holidays abroad. Sat in the sun covered in factor 50 suncream wearing a glorious wide brimmed hat and looking wonderful.
The surgery on my upper leg is beautifully done. Sadly, very little feeling in my inner thigh but the best thing is, I’m alive and well!!  People keep asking how I am and I’m embarrassed to tell them that I’m perfectly well.  All this happened last year and it’s like a bad memory.
I intend to remain fit and healthy. I keep a positive mind and never allow negative thinking.
After my treatment finishes, I will be scanned every 3 months, see the dermatology nurse and continue to thank God that I’m fit and well

If there’s anything else you want to ask, I’m here. All the very best. This immunotherapy is a game changer! I’m convinced that it’s going to be the greatest cancer treatment so thank the Lord that you’ll be getting it.
    onwards and upwards

    Love, Grannyrose x
