Ovarian cancer

Hi I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage 4 at the beginning of January I'm 54 years old and I'm terrified I have a daughter and two beautiful young grandchildren who I adore I don't want to leave them I see my consultant on Monday to discuss treatment they've said it may only be palliative please help if there could be any positivity I can't sleep feel terrible

  • Hello RX77X,

A very warm welcome to our forum and I wanted to send you some positive vibes ahead of your consultant appointment tomorrow. I hope that the appointment goes well and that you find out more about your treatment options. I am so sorry to hear this is affecting your sleep - do talk to your GP if the problem persists - I really hope the meeting tomorrow will be helpful and positive. Do write down questions you might have for the consultant in advance if you can so that you don't forget.

Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 if you would like to talk to them about anything after you have seen your consultant - sometimes after the appointment, questions come racing through your head and it is nice to have someone to talk to and I wanted you to know that our nurse helpline is there for you Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Finally, I wanted you to know that there is another lady on the forum who coincidentally posted on the same day as you and at the very same time too. Have a look at  's Ovarian Cancer thread and feel free to drop her a line. She has also been diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer so would be a great person for you to connect with as you will be able to support one another during this difficult time.

Best of luck for tomorrow - let us know how the appointment goes if you get a moment,
