Hello Em24ma, sorry to hear you're going through such a stressful time. I was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago. The consultant initially thought it was invasive (cells had broken out of duct) because she could feel a lump. The pathology report post-surgery came back as DCIS but they then carried out further tests to see if any cells (even one or two) had broken through the duct (DCIS with micro-invasion I think she said). This delayed the results. The final report said DCIS but I still had radiotherapy as planned. Hope this helps!

Hi, that’s very helpful thank u, I didn’t know it could have micro-invasion. I have a small lump and some calcifications. I’m only at the biopsy stage though so I don’t know what they can tell from just a small sample. Can I ask what kind of surgery u had? Just removal of the lump or mastectomy? 

Sorry, I meant to add that I had a two lymph nodes removed too for biopsy.
