Flu and covid jab?

Hi, I have read in some of the literature that flu and covid jabs are advised before starting chemo. It was not mentioned at my oncology appointment and I forgot to ask. Just wondered if anyone else has been advised to have these jabs and if I should be requesting them.

I was advised to have both flu and Covid jabs before starting my treatment last year as once you've started, you won't be able to have any more vaccinations until your treatment is completed.

Thanks Carol for your reply. Do you know how far in advance you need to have them? I'm due to start chemo in a couple of weeks. Maybe I should contact my macmillan nurse to enquire about it. Did you have to book appointment with gp to sort it out?

Hi Pippin

Because it was flu/covid jab season, I just booked through the NHS website for covid and asked for flu jab when I was there. I had mine about 2.5 weeks before treatment started. I wasn't advised if there was a minimum time between vaccination and starting treatment. Macmillan are good and I'm sure they can advise you if you're not sure. xx
