Help with Capecitabine

Hi,

I have stage 2 bowel cancer and will be starting chemo soon on Capecitabine. The issue I have is that I have a autistic son and he has become stressed and fixated on what the pills look like, box they come in etc. Is anyone able to send me photos to show him or even better post be an empty container so that he can acclimatise and be one less stress for me!

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Lshergold87 although I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and the impact your upcoming treatment is having on your son.

Unfortunately photos are not allowed on the forum but if you are able to speak to your local pharmacist, GP and/or medical team, they should be able to help with this.

Hopefully some of our members who have taken Capecitabine will be along soon to offer their thoughts and advice, but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses you can either make a new post in their section of the forum or give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to help.

We're thinking of you Lshergold87 and wishing you all the best with your chemo.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hi, I'm currently on Capecitabine, I take 4 x500 tablets and 2 x150 tablets twice a day, the boxes I get mine in from the hospital are just plain white with the instructions /name etc labels on, both tablets are in blister packs. Hope this helps a little Good luck with your treatment x
