Need advice for a friend who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer

Hi

I have just found out that a friend was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She is really worried as she has a natural paralysis on the right side and that's the side if the tumour.

They suggest having a radical mastectomy, her only worry is that will leave her being unable to do anything.

Any advice will be great, as I don't know what to say.

Hi pandamum,

I'm sorry to hear this and I hope your friend and also yourself are getting on OK.

If you haven't already, have a search of the forum (using the bar at the top of the page), for other relevant discussions, for example by typing 'mastectomy', as there will be other chats on here that may bring up some useful information for you.

We have some information on our website about having a mastectomy, including information on possible options afterwards, which will hopefully be helpful.
