44 year old husband diagnosed with primary bowel cancer and 'extensive' liver metastases after suffering a stroke.

We only got married in September after 13 years together and 2 children (8 and 2). My husband suffered an initial stroke on 18th December where he lost all mobility in his left hand. After a trip to A&E his CT was clear so they sent him home with a trapped nerve diagnosis. 2 days later, he had a mini stroke where his face drooped and speech slurred. He was transferred to a specialist stroke unit in our local hospital.

After many blood tests, ultrasounds, MRI and CT scans they finally diagnosed secondary liver cancer. Scans showed up masses in his colon so he then had a colonoscopy. He had 5 polyps removed and they then identified the primary cancer was in his colon.

He was prescribed 90mg blood thinners initially but then after elevated troponin levels and 2 cardiac events, this has now been increased to 110mg.

The cancer in his liver is 'extensive ' and surgery is not an option so we start chemo early next month. We have an oncology appointment on Tuesday for prognosis and to find out more about treatment.

Is there anyone out there who has had a similar experience? We are supposed to be looking forward to our future together as husband and wife. Life is so unfair. Our son doesn't know yet. We are waiting until we have more information as he will have lots of questions I'm sure.

Thank you for reading x
