Cervical cancer - stage 2

Hi, I found out yesterday I have cervical cancer stage 2A and even though I was certain I was going to get told I had cancer, actually hearing it made me feel numb and upset. I'm mostly ok but feeling a bit all over the place.

They're having their MDT meeting next week Friday so I should hear from them the week after about a treatment plan but it's looking like chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

What's been the hardest is telling my family, it's been difficult keeping it together and I've come to realise this diagnosis really affects my family too. The men in my family (my husband, my dad and my brother) were particularly shook when I told them, well my husband was with me when I got the news. Now will just take it one day at a time, try to remain as positive as possible and just get through it x

  • So sorry to hear of your diagnosis I know its smuch a scary place to be. Jan 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and cervical cancer in the same week I was totally wrecked I had a masectomy no lymph nodes affected so no further treatment need except hormone blocker letrozole. I then had cervix removed but no clear margins so a radical hysterectomy still no clear margins so 6 weeks of radiotherapy an 6 rounds of chemo that only caused my hair to thin since 2017 have had regular check ups and thankfullu no further recurrence.

However bc different story 2020 pain to ribs an spine being lockdown not easy to see anyone eventually when I did was diagnosed with extensive bc mets to ribs spine an pelvic area starred treatment fulvestrant injections once a month to block hormones abemaciclib tablets kind of chemo targeted treatment twice daily and bone strengthening injections once a month unfortunately have had to stop them as its affected my jaw bone.

So nearly 4 years on I'm doing OK treatment is quite gruelling but it's fmdoing what it's supposed to keeping my condition stable.

Hold on in there try an think positive 7 years on with no reoccurrence of the cervical cancer is brilliant they have even said to me the chances of it coming back are very low. So there is hope out there treatment they have today works so well. Sending you a big hug let me know how you get on. X

  • Hi Barbs1,

Thank you for your response and the big hug :)

It is reassuring to hear from (read about) all the women who have gone through this and their experiences and I know I'll get through this too, it's just the journey is a little daunting.

Oh my goodness you have been through a lot and it's been a long road for you! I'm sorry to hear your ongoing treatment is so gruelling, at least like you said, it's keeping you stable. Very happy to hear you are 7 years on with no reoccurrence of CC!

Once I get my treatment plan next week, I'll pop back with an update x
