Chemotherapy plus Herceptin

Hi, I'm waiting for an appointment to see an oncologist. I have been told I have to have chemo before surgery, along with Herceptin, due to being HER2 positive. Would like to hear from anyone that has already had treatment this way round.

  • Hello Pippin24

I can see that you've been chatting with women on a few other threads. Hopefully you've been able to connect with someone who has had chemotherapy and Herceptin prior to surgery.

I know that we will have had lots of members who have had this treatment regime post to share their experiences. If you use the forum search function to look for the term "Herceptin" you should find lots of posts that you can read through and hopefully these will offer you some insight.

If you want to talk anything through with someone, you're welcome to call our team of nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you Jenn, will give that a try. For some reason I assumed Herceptin would be tablets, but it would seem that it comes via an injection. Not even sure what it is. Have been put of googling stuff, as previously freaked me out prior to diagnosis.

  • Hello Pippin24

You've done exactly the right thing by not Googling so well done.

We have some information about Herceptin on our website here which may be of help to you. It's part of a wider A - Z of cancer drugs information page which you may find handy in the future.

Don't forget that you can always call our nurses for information as well. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
