Just diagnosed a week past on Monday with lung cancer and in two lymph nodes things are moving fast which I'm so greatful for our NHS and how fast everyone has worked still have to get my big scan and lung biopsy , but I'm so emotional crying all the time I'm supposing this is normal

  • Hello Def

Welcome to the forum although I'm really sorry to hear about the news this week that has led you to find us. It's obviously a very difficult time at the moment and natural that you're feeling so emotional.

It's good to hear that you're feeling the hospital team is looking after you so well. Hopefully your scan and biopsy results won't take too long and then you'll be able to sit down with the specialist to talk through your options. People often find that they feel a little better once they get to that stage and know what they are facing.

In the meantime, you might find it helpful to chat things through with one of our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information, and support they can. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Def and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi DEF,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but glad to see that things are moving fast and that you already have a date for your biopsy next week. This is always a worrying time, until you know exactly what you are dealing with. Once you have a treatment plan, you can start to move forward and will begin to feel more positive. It is not at all unusual to find yourself crying a lot. Don't worry about this, as all those tears you shed are a good stress reliever.

We are certainly very fortunate to have the NHS here for us in the UK and, despite the many complaints, I for one, am indebted to them. I am fortunate enough to be 14 years down the line from 2 bouts of breast cancer, within a year.

I sincerely hope that your results don't take too long to come back and then you can start your treatment.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
