After diagnosis last week of invasive ductal carcinoma I was waiting for results of whether I'm HER2 positive or negative. Also skin biopsy ( I was worried about inflammatory cancer due to reddening skin) and mri. Skin biopsy came back cancer free which is good. I am HER2 positive so will be going on Herceptin and having chemo before surgery. MRI shows cancerous area between two lumps, so it will likely mean mastectomy, rather than lumpectomy. Was going to ask for this anyway. Have got to have ct scan on Monday, also another ultrasound scan and possible biopsy of area found on mri, on Wednesday. Then have to wait for appointment with oncologist. It's  going to be a tough year!!

  • Hi Pippin,

This is not really the news that we were hoping for. However, I am glad to hear that your dermatology biopsy was clear. Let's hope that after your tests next week, you can finally move on to treatment. This year will indeed be a challenge, but you'll come out a stronger person for the experience.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you for your reply. Will certainly be a long and challenging year. They said it could be 5 or 6 weeks before treatment starts. Seems a long time to wait and just want to get on with it really. It's grade 3 so fast growing, although they assure me it won't change in this time!
