Spindle cell sarcoma

Hello everybody,

Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma. The following day I was admitted to hospital and operated on, a tumour was removed, along with my hip and top of my femur due to it becoming fractured by the growth. To say my life has been turned upside down is an understatement! I am still in hospital learning to get my mobility back. Hopefully I may be going home early next week. The cancer has metatised to my lungs but I've not been told yet the outlook for that. I will be starting chemotherapy in a few weeks which I'm not looking forward to.

Anyway, thanks for reading my story,

Richard

  • Hello Richard

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It sounds like the past few weeks have been a real whirlwind and it's understandable that you may be feeling overwhelmed by things.

Hopefully your mobility will improve over the next few days and you'll be able to go home before too long.

It's natural that you may be anxious about starting chemotherapy treatment. I think that is something that many of our members will understand. Try to keep a positive mindset and not think too much about the what-ifs.  Hopefully things will go smoothly for this next phase of your treatment.

I wanted to give you the link to an organisation called Sarcoma UK. It may be that through one of their support options, you're able to connect with someone else who has had the same diagnosis.

Do keep in touch Rich and let us know how you're getting on.

    Best wishes,
