Grade 2 Invasive Breast HER2 neg surgery help

I was given the news a few days before Christmas. Santa must try harder next year.

First surgery had to be postponed as I have an inflammatory lung condition which timed a flare up perfectly for 2 days before scheduled op. So I'm now due again next week for wide local excision and sentinel node removal. Can't have the blue dye due to allergy complications so have Magseed in situ already with Magtrace on the day.

I guess I just wanted to say hi, and would appreciate any post-op recovery tips? I already have button up PJs rather than pullover ones, and a decent non wired bra, some comfy/loose clothes to wear. Also made up the spare room so I don't get an accidental elbow in the night. I'm a planner so take comfort in doing whatever I can in advance, so if there's anything you can suggest I'd be grateful.

  • Hello CeeCeeMcG

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis just before Christmas and that your surgery was initially delayed due to other health problems. It sounds like it's been a difficult time for you.

It's good to know that the surgery date has been rescheduled and that you've been able to prepare yourself ahead of your operation next week. It sounds like you have covered most of the bases but we do have a little information about things to be mindful of after your surgery on our website here

If you want to chat things through with one of our nurses at any point you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I send my best wishes for a successful surgery and a smooth recovery. Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on if you're able to.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi CeeCee,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis and the delay in surgery. It sounds as if you are already pretty well prepared with your clothing. I found it helpful to have a small heart shaped pillow that I could pop under my arm at night. This made sleeping easier.

I hope that all goes well for you next week and that there are no further delays.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
