Just been diagnosed
Hello Ponyjasper14 and a big welcome to our forum,
I am sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, As mentioned on our information page, this is the most common type of skin cancer and I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have had a similar diagnosis in the past or who have, like you, been recently diagnosed. You can do a quick search for past threads on BCC by typing in 'basal cell carcinoma' in our search bar which is located at the very top of the page - this will give you a list of past threads on basal cell carcinoma which might be relevant to you and feel free to respond to any you feel resonate with your own experience.
Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 if you would like to talk things through with them or have any question for them. Their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
I will now let our members who have had experience or knowledge of BCC come and say hello and share their story with you. Feel free also to tell us a little bit more about your story. Have you found out more about the treatment you might have?
Best wishes,
Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
Hi, I was diagnosed with possible Basel cell carcinoma 8 days ago too. Not heard anything from the hospital or GP since. Do you know what happens next? Was a bit all over the place then I saw the specialist, and didn't really know what to ask. I do remember her saying she was going to be writing 2 letters, but not sure who to. Mine is on my eye lid, so will need plastic surgery after removal. Really would like to know when to expect the ball to start rolling. Should I contact my GP or wait for them to contact me?
