Colon Cancer

My Dad has a tumor blockage in his descending large intestine. He needed a scan to identify the blockage as a colonscopy was not possible. The scan indicates a T4b and M1 tumour, obviously to be confirmed through further tests. There seems to be secondary small tumor on his liver.

Tomorrow is his Doctor's appointment where we will learn about the diagnosis and treatment options.

What I find diifficult in this chat is that all those on 'Colon Cancer' only seem to have a singular post with no follow-up.

  • Hello AFLGOI

I noticed in your post that your Dad was due to see the specialist yesterday. How did he get on? I hope that the team was able to give you some clear answers about the diagnosis and recommended treatment plan.

If there's anything you'd like to chat through with one of our team of nurses you're most welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can.

In the meantime, I'm sorry that you've not been able to connect with others here who have experience with bowel cancer. We don't have many members post who have this diagnosis so I wanted to give you the link to Bowel Cancer UK where you may be able to chat with others via their forum.

Keep in touch AFLGOI and let us know how you're all getting on if you're able to.

    Best wishes,

  • Dad lives half-way around the world and it's surprising how different medical culture is. There the cancer protocols are different. So the removal of the blockage does not take priority.

Apparently there HAS to be a biopsy before debulking or removal, but there has to be clearing of the bowels before the biopsy.

AND the blockage is preventing the clearing of the bowels.

So, the doctors are insisting on enemas, etc. It's been 10 days. They won't budge on this route.

I will be flying out in 10 days. But the stress, worry and anger (and that's just me!).
