Endometrial stromal tumour,total hysterectomy?

Hello. I am 55   No period for a year then couple days of spotting about a month ago so told GP . I said I wanted coil out anyway so went to ggnaecologist who removed it and did D and C. The consultant said results were inconclusive. I was called in today and they said I could have an endometrial stromal tumour. They said the only way they will know is by doing a complete hysterectomy. They have ordered a ct scan to check my lungs  and liver etc in the meantime. They said I could have it all removed to find nothing is wrong . Was such a shock I just felt sick . If ct comes back clear I don’t know what to do

  • Hello Loopylouhd

I'm sorry to hear about the situation you find yourself in. It's understandable that you have some concerns and questions about the surgical treatment that has been recommended to you.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the CT scan and the results will bring some reassurance. I wonder if you might find it helpful to chat things through with one of our nurses ahead of your next appointment with the specialist. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support they can along with helping you think about the questions that you might want to ask the Consultant. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you have some news soon. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
