Addition treatment options- Immunotherapy/ Dendritic cell therapies

Hello there

Can I kindly enquire about possible treatments options in addition to the standard pathway for stage 4  serous ovarian cancer/ solid tumours please? This was a missed/delayed diagnosis. I’ve been trying to research these treatments and I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge or experience of them at all, which seem to be available on the continent but apparently are not licenced here, although I have found previous clinical trials noting treatment success with these. Have tried to discuss with the oncologist who was not able to comment on them, and asked for a second opinion but been told there is no point currently as on the standard pathway of the 3 chemo agents. No one in the UK seems to be prepared to discuss this option. I’m sure there must be people out there who have either gone abroad to receive this treatment or potentially paid that company in order to have the treatment here.
In addition, are there any current trials, potentially with a form of immunotherapy or other agent that might be suitable and eligible for at all please?
Would so welcome any information or advice please. It feels like a minefield and there is already so much to have to deal with.
Many thanks.

  • Hello Andere

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and the struggles that you've had with getting that diagnosis and now finding a treatment pathway that you feel happy with.

I'm unsure if we've any members here on the forum who have experience with this but hopefully someone will reply to share their stories with you before too long. You might want to have a look at the Target Ovarian Cancer website to see if you can connect with other women there as well.

We do have some information on our website about how to find a clinical trial that you might want to look through. You might also want to chat things through with one of our nurses. If you would like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
