Chemo & radiotherapy for stage 3 lung cancer. Has anyone else had this and can provide some tips/advice?

Hello all. I am a 65yr old female, married with children. Unfortunately I have been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. The hole is too near my heart to have surgery so instead I'm going to be blasted with 6 weeks of daily chemo & radiotherapy, Mon to Fri!! Like us all, I have been reading up on it all and I find it rather daunting to try prepare for all eventualities. I start weds 4th Oct '23.

is there anyone else who has been or is going through this type of treatment? Better to learn from fellow sufferers, I reckon! I'm spending out big time on all sorts of products e.g. Travel sick bag s!!

Would appreciate any suggestions...

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Schotty although I'm sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with lung cancer.

    I know you've mentioned you've been doing some research in to this already, but if you'd like to find out more about diagnosis, do be sure to take a look at the lung cancer section of our website. It has a lot of information about the chemotherapy and radiotherapy you're due to have as well.

    Hopefully some of our members who have had this treatment will be along soon to share their experiences and advice but in the meantime, if you'd like to talk any of this through with someone, then do give our cancer nurses a call.
