Really anxious

on the 16th august I went to see a colposcopy doctor as I previously had a biopsy in July that came back VIN3, on examination and another biopsy I was told it looks very much like cancer and a oncologist came to see me, she requested a MRI and a Macmillan nurse to ring me, the nurse did ring and told me that tomorrow a group of specialist will look at my case and advise treatment and I should get a call regarding an appointment

I have received a letter in the post today for an appointment 13th September, does this mean they have had the results and not discussing me tomorrow?

does this mean I have to wait for results another 2 weeks, already waited 2 weeks and it has been horrendous

why have my biopsy results not gone on MFT the previous one did before I had a follow up appointment

I am now wondering if things are not as bad as they first thought or are things worse?

am I able to ring my Macmillan nurse tomorrow, will she know what is going on

i thought I was coping this last 2 weeks but I think my pot has now boiled over and I am not coping, my emotions are all over the place and I may be overthinking things

I need to know my results before 13.09 how can I do this

  • Hey, you're not over thinking anything. I say it all the time on here, but one of the hardest part mentally is the not knowing. You've done really well keeping it together for two weeks, so don't go beating yourself up for boiling over. Many a person would have boiled over before now.

I've not got any real answers about the ins and outs of why they are giving you the appointment and if it's good or bad. But just wanted to say, this is always a really *** time for all involved. Once you know all the facts, and IF, and i really do emphasise the "if", you require a treatment plan, then you'll be able to focus your mind on that, and the worrying tails off a little.

There is no magic bullet to stop the worrying, but trying to focus on something else can work to an extent, but yeah, easier said than done. Good luck with it all, and if you're really struggling, do call the nurses and see if you can get answers to your questions from them. We found the nurses helpful.

  • Debs

good luck with everything love Lara x

  • It is terrible trying to cope. I think I would ring a nurse to see if you can find out more before 13th September. Keep posting on here too because we care and will try to give you strength.

  • I have spoke with the nurse my MRI scan is clear and she said the doctor will be discussing surgery with me on the 13th

  • Well, that's one good thing about the MRI scan being clear.

The nurse knew or didn't know why surgery will be discussed on the 13th?
