polypoidal tumour

Hi new ro this forum. Feeling very scared, I'm 39 and left it quite a while to go to the gp. Put symptoms down to ibs, perimenopase, and piles etc. Fit test came back as over 400 and have been having bowel pain/cramps, change in bowel habits and most food going through me. Fit test over 400 and today on my colonscopy they found (they think malignant) polypoidal tumour 3cm in the distal sigmoid. She told me it's like a cauliflower on a stalk I saw it and it looked terrible with mucous etc and raging if that makes sense and i naturally googled it and some similar pictures looked like advanced bowel cancer im now terrified. I've had a ct of pelvic area and tomorrow I have a chest ct scan. Next week the MDT team meet Tuesdays so I will be called after this. She told me it has to come out but I'm worried it has spread as she said I would have had it for a long time. I'm due to start a new job Friday (terrible timing!) Scared stiff I won't get sick pay as will be in probation period but surely I can get statutory sick pay. Worried for my son who is 14. Not sure what I'm aiming for with this post I guess similar situations and treatment and how do they grade it, is that from biopsies and rhe scans? I'm convinced it has spread as my stomach is sensitive and I suffer with indigestion more lately. Thanks for reading!
