Dad newly diagnosed with incurable bladder cancer

We've just found out today and we've never had anyone in the family with cancer in my adult life/recently.  I have no idea how to process it and I don't know what to make of what the consultant said.  Its like being totally numb and in disbelief.  I can't accept it at all.  I wanted some comfort from somewhere as I'm just worried overall about all the future implications about what my dad is going to miss and it gets more unbearable.

  • A very warm welcome to the Cancer Chat community Jenveve although I'm sorry to hear about your dad.

No doubt you're contending with a lot of thoughts and feelings at the moment but I'm glad you've reached out to us as so many of our members will understand what you're going through, so you are not alone, and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to offer their support and advice.

We also have a very friendly and well informed team of cancer nurses you can talk things through with on 0808 800 4040. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to answer your questions and try to put your mind at ease about what's to come.

I can see on another discussion you created that a member has kindly recommended a group you can join to connect with others who are on your dad's journey. For further information and advice, don't hesitate to get in with Action Bladder Cancer UK as well.

You're in our thoughts Jenveve and we're sending all our strength and support your way.

    Kind regards,
