Hi All, this is my first post on this forum, which feels totally surreal. I am a 30 years old mum of 1, and was diagnosed in june with a suspected immature teratoma cyst (also called germ cell tumor).
I had pelvic pains which led my GP to refer for me for an urgent scan, the pelvil scan showed a huge cyst (14cm!) on my right ovary. This was followed by MRI and then CT. A couple of blood test showed positive two cancer markers (alpha protein and another one I cannot remember).
Luckily there is no spread whatsoever and the huge thing + ovary was removed surgically last week. The operation was definitely a big one, but I am recovering well. I was told by the surgeon that it was a success, they removed the cyst without any issues, they did not see any spread, and I am healing well at home.
My anxiety is due to the wait for the biopsy results, which are complex due to the rarity of the desease. I am terrified of going through chemo. I feel like I’ve gone through enough trauma and just hope to be able to crack on with my life!
i would love to hear from any of you!
