Suspected melanoma on scalp

Hi, went to doctors two weeks ago, had fast track to dermatology thus week.Now waiting for appointment to remove melanoma, which apparently will be within 2wks in ENT department.  Two questions 

1.Should I be extra concerned that its all happening v fast

2.Dermatologist also said due to location I will probably need a skin graft, does anyone know if thus is carried out at the same appointment of removal? and what should I know/ ask

  • Hi Revelis,  I wouldn't be concerned its happening quickly, the quicker the better.  With regard to the skin graft, my OH recently had a couple of tumours removed from his head. The skin on the scalp is very thin so they may need the graft to close the wound up.  Your surgeon will talk you through the procedure.
